Formula and method

Tax = sum of the income within each entered band × its marginal rate

Deduction is removed first. Band limits must increase and the final band must use Infinity. No current-country rule set is assumed.

Worked example

Income before deduction: 100000, Allowed deduction: 10000, Cumulative upper limit : marginal percent, one per line: 20000:10; 50000:20; Infinity:30. The result is 20,000 (tax using your entered bands).
