Understanding monthly loan payments
A fixed monthly loan payment contains both principal and interest. Enter the nominal annual interest rate, not the monthly decimal rate. The term is in years and the calculation assumes twelve equal payments per year.
Compare scenarios by changing one input at a time. A lower monthly payment from a longer term can still produce more total interest. The currency selection changes the displayed label; it does not fetch exchange rates or lender offers.
What is this calculator?
Calculate fixed monthly loan payments and total interest from the amount, annual rate and term.
What can you use it for?
Use this tool to compare a financial scenario using the assumptions you control. Calculate fixed monthly loan payments and total interest from the amount, annual rate and term.
How to use it
- Enter loan amount.
- Enter annual interest rate (%).
- Enter loan term (years).
- Enter currency.
- Select Calculate (or Generate for random tools).
- Read the answer and any additional results below the form. Check the units and the limits of the method.
Formula and method
P is the loan principal. r is the monthly rate: annual percent ÷ 1,200. n is years × 12. At zero interest, the payment is P ÷ n.
Worked example
Loan amount: 1000000, Annual interest rate (%): 12, Loan term (years): 5, Currency: PKR. The result is PKR 22,244.4476849 (monthly payment).
Assumptions and limits
This is a mathematical estimate using the values you enter. Confirm real product terms, fees, tax rules and dates before acting on it.
Frequently asked questions
Is the interest rate monthly or annual?
Enter a nominal annual percentage. The calculator divides it by 1,200 to obtain the monthly decimal rate and assumes equal monthly payments.
Are fees included in the payment?
The fixed-rate calculation uses the principal, interest and term you enter. Add financed fees to the principal if appropriate; unfinanced charges and eligibility decisions are outside this model.
What inputs does the Loan Calculator need?
Use loan amount, annual interest rate (%), loan term (years), currency. Read the answer and any additional results below the form. Check the units and the limits of the method.
