What is this calculator?
Estimate daily energy expenditure from resting energy and a chosen activity multiplier.
What can you use it for?
Use it to understand the numerical relationship between the measurements or dates entered. Estimate daily energy expenditure from resting energy and a chosen activity multiplier.
How to use it
- Enter weight (kg).
- Enter height (cm).
- Enter age (years).
- Enter equation sex parameter.
- Enter activity multiplier.
- Select Calculate (or Generate for random tools).
- Read the answer and any additional results below the form. Check the units and the limits of the method.
Formula and method
Daily estimate = resting energy × entered activity multiplier
Weight is in kg, height in cm, age in years. The Mifflin–St Jeor constant is +5 for the male parameter and −161 for the female parameter. The multiplier is chosen by you.
Worked example
Weight (kg): 70, Height (cm): 175, Age (years): 30, Equation sex parameter: Male, Activity multiplier: 1.4. The result is 2,308.25 kcal/day (estimated total energy expenditure).
Assumptions and limits
A rough adult energy-use estimate, not a weight-loss plan. Individual energy needs vary.
